未来へ残したい日本がある。

Kendo Spirit shares the spirit of Japan through kendo, one of Japan’s traditional martial arts.

We are deeply committed to those who genuinely seek to understand Japanese culture. However, our purpose is not simply to teach Japanese culture itself.

Our goal is to create opportunities for people to learn something meaningful from Japanese culture and carry those lessons into their own lives. That is what Kendo Spirit stands for.

The Philosophy of Kendo Spirit

Every culture has its own unique strengths, values, and beauty. Japan is no exception. Yet the true value of Japanese culture is not found only in what can be seen.

You can see a bow, but you cannot see the respect and consideration behind it. What Kendo Spirit seeks to share is this invisible side of Japanese culture: the values and mindset that give meaning to its visible forms.

Kendo carries forward not only the spirit of Bushido, but also a distinctly Japanese commitment to learning from many traditions, including Shinto, Buddhism, and Confucianism, while continually refining the way one lives.

Within kendo, visible forms such as etiquette and ritual are inseparable from the values behind them: respect, consideration for others, self-discipline, and a commitment to continual improvement. To encounter kendo is also to encounter the values and ways of thinking that the Japanese people have studied, reflected upon, and passed down over generations.

These values, however, cannot be fully understood through words alone.

That is why, at Kendo Spirit, we hold the sword together and bow together. Participants first learn about the historical and cultural foundations of Bushido and kendo. They study etiquette not only as a set of forms, but also by understanding the meaning behind each action.

They then take up a shinai, raise their voices, move together, and face another person with sincerity. Through this direct encounter, they begin to experience respect and gratitude for the person in front of them.

Kendo invites participants to reflect on how they face others, how they face themselves, and ultimately, how they choose to live their own lives.

We do not aim to give participants a single answer. Instead, we create time and space for them to reflect on themselves through Japanese culture, discover their own insights, and carry those lessons into their own lives rather than leaving them behind in Japan.

This is what Kendo Spirit seeks to share through kendo.

What Kendo Spirit Offers

Kendo Spirit plans and operates kendo and Bushido experience programs for a wide range of participants, including individual travelers, families, groups, educational tours, corporate training, and MICE programs.

Our programs are open to both beginners and experienced practitioners and are conducted entirely in English. From private experiences for small groups to large-scale events, each program can be tailored to suit the participants’ goals, interests, and group size.

We have partnered with hotels, travel agencies, DMCs, educational institutions, and companies to deliver programs for a wide variety of audiences and purposes.

What Kendo Spirit Values

At Kendo Spirit, we believe it is important to share not only the visible forms of Japanese culture, but also the meaning behind them in a way that resonates with each participant.

Our programs are designed around the founder’s lifelong practice of kendo and his understanding of the Bushido philosophy behind it. Rather than simply teaching the outward forms, we seek to convey the values and meaning that give those forms their purpose. While respecting tradition, we present these ideas through experiences that encourage modern travelers to feel, reflect, and think for themselves.

We believe that the willingness to learn is, in itself, an expression of respect for Japanese culture. That is why we approach every participant with the same sincerity they bring to learning. Rather than simply delivering a program, we strive to create an experience that is personally meaningful and leaves a lasting impact.
