Experience Kendo

Kendo has been cultivated and passed down through generations over Japan’s long history. Step into a traditional dojo, put on the armor, face your opponent, and train through practice. This is more than just a samurai experience.
It is an opportunity to experience the values that have been passed down through generations in Japan.
What You’ll Experience

The experience begins with an introduction to the history, philosophy, and rules of Kendo. You will then experience Kendo through respect, basic training, and sparring.
Respect
Kendo begins and ends with respect.
Respect is not only about your opponent. You don’t need to understand its meaning from the very beginning. Simply learn through your actions. Over time, you will gradually discover the true meaning of respect.
Basic Training
Where do you begin if you want to become stronger in Kendo?
For generations, practitioners have refined and passed down the fundamentals. Footwork, stance, sword handling, striking techniques, and mindset. Learning these fundamentals is the fastest path to improvement.
Sparring
Face your opponent and put what you’ve learned into practice.
You will have the opportunity to spar with other participants and, at the end, challenge your instructor. Whether you win or lose, every challenge offers something to learn. There can be no challenge without an opponent. Through those experiences, you will gradually come to understand the true meaning of respect.
