What is kendo?

Kendo is a traditional Japanese martial art deeply rooted in samurai culture and Bushido.
Its purpose is not only to train the body, but to develop strong and honorable character.

What is Bushido?

Simply put, Bushido means living honestly and staying true to your beliefs.
It is about not doing what is wrong.
Its depth cannot be fully explained in just a few words.

What kind of manners are practiced?

We bow to the front and to each other, show respect, and avoid disturbing others.
All etiquette is taught step by step.

Why do so many people practice kendo?

Kendo trains both the body and the mind.
It helps you become stronger, kinder, and more disciplined.
The more you practice, the deeper its meaning becomes.

Is kendo a sport or a martial art?

Kendo is not a sport.
It is a traditional Japanese martial art focused on personal growth, not just winning.

Why is kendo important in Japanese culture?

Kendo has passed down the spirit of Bushido for generations.
To learn kendo is to learn the heart of the Japanese people.

Why do you offer English support?

Many foreigners want to learn kendo, but feel uncomfortable because of the language barrier or joining Japanese-only groups.
We created this dojo to give them a safe and welcoming place to train.

How long does it take to improve?

There is no single answer.
But after one year of continuous practice, many people begin to understand the true depth and beauty of kendo.

What are kendo ranks?

Kendo starts with kyu, then moves to dan (black belt levels).
Dan begins at 1st dan and goes up to 8th dan.
The 8th dan exam is known as one of the most difficult tests in Japan and takes decades to achieve.

Where should beginners start?

You will begin with posture and etiquette, then voice training, footwork, and how to hold the shinai.
